Under the new initiative in the field of fisheries in Bhojpur district, electricity above, fish below model will be developed. Through this new model, electricity will be generated by installing solar plants on the ponds. Whereas fish farming will also take place in the same pond. With this, energy and fish production will be possible at one place. Due to which the income of fishermen and fish farmers is expected to increase. DM Tanay Sultania said this in the meeting of the district level committee organized under the Prime Minister Matsya Sampada Yojana on Monday. He said that the objective of the scheme is to directly benefit the fishermen and fish farmers. For this, the beneficiaries will be selected in a completely transparent, rule-based and fair manner. Any kind of irregularity will not be tolerated. DM directed that before effective implementation of this model, all technical aspects should be seriously reviewed. He said that videography should be done to ensure transparency in the selection process and implementation of schemes.
Fishermen’s income will double
Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana is an ambitious scheme of the Government of India. The objective of which is to increase fish production and productivity, double the income of fishermen and make the district a leader in fish production. Under the scheme, facilities like cold storage, pond construction, insurance, loan and technical assistance are provided. The power up, fish down model will not only be environment friendly but will also promote better use of water resources. The electricity generated from solar panels can be used to operate aerators, pumps and other essential equipment in the pond complex itself. Due to which the production cost will be reduced. The DM directed the concerned departments to organize training camps and workshops to make farmers and fishermen aware of this new technology. Under the scheme, timely grants and technical guidance should be provided to the selected beneficiaries, so that they can do fisheries without any hindrance. It was also decided in the meeting that the progress would be reviewed regularly.
