Lucknow: Folk singer Neha Rathore’s troubles are increasing for posting objectionable posts on social media during the Pahalgam terror attack. Lucknow High Court bench has rejected the anticipatory bail plea of Neha Rathore. Hazratganj Police’s raid continues to arrest Neha. Neha had earlier filed a petition in the Supreme Court to cancel the FIR lodged at Hazratganj police station. The Supreme Court has already rejected Neha Rathore’s petition. Neha Rathore is still absconding. However, in the meantime he has definitely posted on social media.
The High Court accepted that despite the order, Neha was not cooperating in the investigation. The High Court said that despite the order of the double bench to appear before the investigator, the accused is not cooperating in the investigation. Neha Rathore’s special leave petition against that order of the double bench has also been rejected by the Supreme Court. It was argued on behalf of Neha that the comments made on social media are a matter of freedom of expression. It was also said that if the entire story of the prosecution goes by, sections of endangering the unity and integrity of the country and rebellion against the country cannot be imposed in the case.
On behalf of the government, government advocate Dr. VK Singh opposed the anticipatory bail petition. The government advocate argued that when the country was going through a sensitive situation, comments like “BJP wants to plunge the country into war and put the lives of thousands of soldiers at risk”. He was involved in the campaign to divert attention from Pakistan and prove the Prime Minister guilty. For this reason, Pakistan made the social media posts of the accused a weapon of propaganda against India. Rejecting the petition challenging the FIR registered against the accused, the double bench had ordered him to appear before the investigator on September 26.
