Rohtas: There is a big relief news for thousands of cattle herders in Rohtas district of Bihar. The Cattle Directorate has decided that the government will pay 75 percent of the total premium charged on insurance of milch animals. With this, getting insurance will now become much easier than before. Under the scheme, the maximum value of a milch animal has been fixed at Rs 60 thousand and the total insurance premium is fixed at Rs 2100. But now out of Rs 2100, the government will give Rs 1575, whereas the cattle rearer will have to deposit only Rs 525. The validity of this insurance will be one year.
Insurance amount was a challenge for farmers

In case of illness, accident or sudden death, the family would face financial crisis. Keeping this problem in mind, the department has started this special initiative which will provide safe support to the small and medium farmers of the district.
Certificate will have to be given for insurance
To get insurance, cattle owners will have to submit photographs of their cattle, Aadhar card, bank account details and health certificate issued by a veterinarian. All the blocks of the district have been instructed to organize camps to give complete information about the process to the farmers and to connect as many cattle herders as possible with the scheme.
Expectation of improvement in milk production also
District Animal Husbandry Officer Dr. R.K. Choubey said that the benefits of the schemes will be given to eligible families on priority and the facility of application is available on the website and at the local level. Officials say that providing insurance cover to animals will increase their economic security and milk production is also expected to improve in the long run.
