Electric bikes will be available at Kozhikode railway station in Kerala. By paying just Rs 50 you can use this bike for 1 hour. If you want the bike for the whole day then you will have to pay Rs 750. This is part of the steps being taken by Railways to promote green mobility.
New DelhiNow you will not need to take an auto-taxi to move around after leaving the railway station, If you are alone or two people, then you can easily book an electric bike and roam around the entire city, It has started from Kozhikode railway station in Kerala, Now passengers at Kozhikode railway station will not have to depend on expensive cabs or crowded autos to move around the city, Palakkad division of Southern Railway has started Kerala’s first e-bike rental service, which will be available outside the station only, This means that as soon as you get off the train, you can immediately go anywhere in the city with an electric bike,
This service has been started with full government approval and has been launched keeping in mind the increasing footfall at the station and the last mile needs of the passengers. E-bikes come with pan-India permission, so users can reach their destination directly from the station without any restrictions.
Complete process of renting an e-bike
Passengers can take e-bike at the rate of only Rs 50 per hour. If someone needs it for the whole day then the bike will be available for Rs 500 for 12 hours and Rs 750 for 24 hours. To buy a bike, only the original of Aadhar card, two years old driving license and a refundable security deposit of Rs 1000 will have to be given. Those on full day rental will also get a charger and the e-bike can run up to 130 kilometers on a single charge.
Security and insurance cover also complete
Every scooter is being provided with full comprehensive insurance so that the user does not have to suffer financial loss in case of any accident. If the bike remains in the claim process for any reason, a small daily rental charge will be applicable during that period. A helmet is available with every bike and if anyone wants to buy an extra helmet, it is available for Rs 50.

This initiative will prove to be a game changer for those passengers who reach Kozhikode by train from nearby cities and then lose time in finding local transport. This is an easy and cheap option for tourists also. Students and working professionals will also be able to travel fast, conveniently and eco-friendly at less money.
