Donald Trump Indian News: Donald Trump said while talking to journalists that now you are not allowed to use the word ‘Indian’. During this time he also made the ‘Tomahawk Chop’ gesture, which Native Americans consider offensive. Know what is the whole matter…
Now you can’t use the word ‘Indian’ in America… US President Donald Trump said this while talking to journalists. He said that this word should be used only for those people who are actually from India.
The video of this statement of Donald Trump has become increasingly viral on social media. Actually, Trump was using the word ‘Indian’ here for Native American communities, which were given this name centuries ago due to the mistake of Christopher Columbus. When Columbus arrived here in 1492 in search of the New World, he believed that he had reached close to India.
Assuming that they had landed around India, Columbus started calling the local tribes there as Indians. Although it soon became clear that he had arrived in a new continent, the misnomer remained entrenched in colonial documents, treaties and histories for centuries. Many Native groups still consider it a historical mistake and a derogatory term.
