Thiruvananthapuram. The Kerala Child Rights Commission has directed that all school teachers should be addressed as ‘teacher’ instead of ‘sir’ or ‘madam’. The Kerala State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (KSCPCR) in a recent order has said that the word ‘teacher’ instead of ‘sir’ or ‘madam’ is not gender biased.
A bench of commission chairman KV Manoj Kumar and member C Vijayakumar on Wednesday directed the general education department to issue instructions to use the address ‘teacher’ in all schools in the state.
