1. Stay away from the strong smell of mint
Rats do not like the smell of mint at all. Take mint oil and apply it on cotton and keep it in the kitchen, cupboard, grain storage place or near the rats’ hole. If there is fresh mint in the house, its leaves can also be kept. Within a few days the rats stop coming there.
2. Homemade method of bay leaves
Bay leaves are not only a food spice, but are also used to ward off rats. Keep bay leaves in grain boxes, sacks or store rooms. Its smell keeps rats away from that place.
3. Run away from the smell of garlic
The strong smell of garlic irritates rats. Grind garlic cloves, mix them in water and sprinkle them where rats come and go. If you want, you can tie garlic pieces in a cloth and keep them in the corners of the house.
4. Spicy effect of black pepper
Sprinkle black pepper powder in those places where there is movement of rats. Its pungent smell causes rats to sneeze and run away from there.

Rats do not like the spiciness of red chilli at all. Put it in the corners of the kitchen, behind the shelves and in the cracks of the wall. Rats will not be able to survive there.
6. Keep away from rats with alum
Break alum into small pieces and keep them in the path of rats. Due to its smell, rats stop coming to that place. This method is considered very effective in villages.
7. Can’t tolerate the smell of camphor
Rats run away from the strong smell of camphor. Keep camphor tablets in the kitchen, cupboard and store room. If you wish, you can also burn camphor and spread its smell.
8. Home remedy of baking soda
Mix baking soda with flour or any food item and place it in the path of rats. Due to this, rats start staying away from that place. This method is chemical free.
9. Keep rats out of tobacco
Rats do not like the smell of tobacco. Mix some gram flour in tobacco, make small pills and keep them at the places where rats come. The effect becomes visible within some time.
