When the team of Local 18 talked to expert Rizwan Khan about this traditional dish, he told that plum pickle is very famous in Burhanpur district of Madhya Pradesh. Here it is prepared in the traditional way. According to Rizwan Khan, local plums are considered best for making pickles.
How is plum pickle made?
Rizwan Khan tells that first of all the local berries are dried in the sun. When the plums become slightly dry, they are soaked in water and cleaned thoroughly. After this, jaggery syrup is prepared by adding a small amount of desi ghee in a big pan. The syrup is cooked on medium flame. When it reaches the right consistency, plums are added to it.

Further told, after cooking on low flame for some time, the sugar syrup completely dissolves and the pickle is ready. The special thing is that no chemical or preservative is used in it.
It will be safe if stored in a glass jar.
According to experts, to ensure that plum pickle does not spoil for a long time, it should be stored in a clean glass jar only. Glass utensils preserve the taste and quality of pickles. In such a situation, this pickle will last comfortably for six months. Rizwan Khan says that this pickle is so tasty that people eat it by adding a little salt as per taste. This is the reason why this special pickle of Bair has become a favorite of people in winter.
