Noida International Airport: Big news related to Noida International Airport has arrived. The city is going to get the gift of a new airport soon. This airport on Yamuna Expressway will prove to be a game changer for Delhi-NCR. Actually, the new airport here is now in its final stages and the aerodrome license is going to be received from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation i.e. DGCA by 30th November. But commercial flights, i.e. passenger flights, will not start before next year i.e. 2026. This means that passengers will have to wait a little longer for this.
This project is being run by Yamuna International Airport Private Limited i.e. YIAPL. Big airlines like Air India, Akasa Air and Indigo are its partners. Recently the final security inspection has been done on 24 November 2025. DGCA, UP Civil Aviation Department, Central Ministry, Noida International Airport Limited i.e. NIAL, CISF and all the employees of the airlines have checked the air traffic control tower, terminal building and other infrastructure.
Technical trials have not been completed yet
Earlier in the review held on November 3, 2025, some minor security problems were pointed out, all of them have been corrected. Airside Infra has received security clearance from the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security i.e. BCAS in September 2025. Airports Authority of India i.e. AAI has helped for communication, navigation and surveillance systems.
For the first time, the validation flight took place on December 2024, that is, on this day itself, the plane landed on the runway and took off. The strength of the runway was also checked on this day. Also checked the roof of the terminal but some technical trials are still going on. The focus is on Operational Readiness and Airport Transfer i.e. Orat Programme. This includes system check, simulation, staff training. According to a Times of India report, NIAL nodal officer Shailendra Bhatia said, “This is the last major milestone before commercial flights start. If everything is up to standard, the license will be given within a week of inspection.” “It takes at least a month for airlines to get slots, adjust schedules and announce routes,” said an official.
Why is there a delay?
Even after getting the license, confirmation from the Prime Minister’s Office i.e. PMO is required for inauguration. If all goes well, operations can start immediately after inauguration or in 30-45 days. But considering the preparation of the airlines, the entire work will be completed by 2026. Before granting license to the airport, runway strength, safety zone, taxiway, apron, lighting, navigational aids, weather data, trend staff, emergency plan, fire rescue, wildlife management, ground handling and security system are all checked. Officers say that all this has been completed. An airport official said, “We are testing every system so that there is a smooth start.”
This airport is a big gift for Noida, Greater Noida and UP. Delhi’s Indira Gandhi Airport is always crowded, so if new flights are started from here, the traffic will reduce, jobs will also come and the country will grow. YIAPL will now finalize the launch date with the airlines.
