The situation has become very serious in Noida after the air quality index reached 330. Increasing pollution has pushed the city into the red zone and the threat to people’s health is increasing. Negligence in construction work and slowness of responsible agencies are making the situation worse.
As the winter increases, the air of Noida has once again started becoming heavy on people’s breath. The air quality index of Noida, which is among the cities with the most polluted air in the country, was recorded at 330 on Monday, which falls in the very poor category. The situation is such that even breathing in open air is becoming difficult. Uprooted roads, dusty construction work and negligence of responsible agencies are continuously keeping the city in the red zone.
Roads in many sectors of the city have been lying dug up for months. With the movement of vehicles, clouds of dust are dissolving in the air. On the other hand, rules are being openly ignored on construction sites. Basic arrangements like water sprinkling and green cover are missing. Builders and contractors are working without any restrictions, which is directly impacting the health of the people living nearby.
Pollution Control Board officials say that the authority has been warned several times. Water sprinkling is mandatory during road and construction work, yet vendors are not following the rules. No concrete steps have been taken to stop the dust flying from the uprooted roads. Despite a budget of crores of rupees, there is no significant improvement in the situation. Even after the implementation of Grape-2 restrictions, no major change is visible in the situation. Under the rules, construction work is allowed with limited conditions, but the restrictions are being ignored at the ground level. The people of Noida are suffering the consequences of this in the form of poisonous air.
How can people of Noida stay safe amid poisonous air?
Amidst increasing pollution, it is very important to give priority to one’s health. Make it a habit to wear a mask while going out, this is especially important for children and the elderly. Avoid outdoor exercise in the morning and late evening. To keep the air in the house clean, clean it regularly with an air purifier or wet cloth. Drink more water and include immunity-boosting fruits and vegetables in your diet. Patients suffering from respiratory problems, allergies or asthma should not be careless in any way.
Do this 1 thing at night
After coming home from pollution, do one thing at night and that is taking steam. Toxic air throughout the day accumulates in the nose and respiratory tract, which can cause cough, heaviness and throat irritation. Taking steam for 5 to 10 minutes before sleeping clears the nose and provides relief to the lungs. This simple habit helps in breathing better at night and works to detox the body from within.
