When it comes to air travel in India, names like IndiGo, Air India, Vistara or SpiceJet immediately come to our mind. But do you know that there is an airline in India which does not carry passengers but only delivers goods to its destination through the sky? Not only this, this airline has done an experiment which has not been done before in the world. The name of this airline is Pradhaan Air Express. This airline, which started in the year 2022, is still unknown to many people, but its work is very special and related to the needs of the future.
Actually, Pradhaan Air Express is an Indian cargo airline, which works only in the field of air cargo. Its objective is faster delivery, better logistics and smart use of aircraft. This airline specifically helps companies that promise to deliver goods within 24 to 48 hours across India, such as D2C (direct-to-consumer) brands and e-commerce companies.
Journey from passenger plane to cargo plane
The biggest feature of Pradhaan Air Express is that it is the first airline in the world which is completely converting the A320 passenger aircraft into a cargo aircraft. Earlier passengers used to sit in this plane, but now all the seats have been removed from inside it. The cabin has been redesigned and now this aircraft serves only for carrying luggage. This change was not just made superficially, but the internal structure of the aircraft has been completely redesigned so that more and safer cargo can be carried.
Why is this idea special?
The demand for air cargo is increasing rapidly in India. Due to online shopping, medical supplies, electronics and fast delivery of essential goods, the need for cargo flights has become greater than ever, but the problem is that the number of dedicated cargo aircraft in India is very less. While big airlines use expensive and large cargo aircraft, such as the Boeing 777, Pradhaan Air Express chose a different path. It adopted the smaller and more economical A320 freighter, which is cheaper to fly, better suited for short and regional routes, faster to load and more economical. This model is considered to be very effective especially for a country like India.
Use of Vayu Group
Pradhaan Air Express is an experiment of global aviation group Vayu. Vayu aims to prove in India that small and modified cargo aircraft can also be successful on a large scale. Its direct benefit is given to those companies, which promise fast delivery and want to deliver the goods to the customers on time.
