Sarguja News: Teachers have been asked to do various types of non-academic work. These days, teachers are on SIR duty in many states. But, Chhattisgarh government has issued a unique order for teachers. Hearing this order, everyone is saying this… This is a great insult! In fact, teachers were asked to monitor the stray dogs roaming around their school premises and inform the responsible officials of the local body.
Now teachers have started opposing this. They say that they should teach the children in the class or take them out of the school and monitor the dogs. District President of Chhattisgarh Joint Teachers Association, Sachin Tripathi has expressed serious objection to the recent order issued by the government. He said, putting the responsibility of giving information about stray dogs roaming outside the school premises on teachers is neither practical nor appropriate.
Children’s safety is primary, but…
The teacher representative said, children live in the school premises, teachers have already been taking the responsibility of their complete safety. In case of any small or big incident, teachers immediately take the children to the hospital. This is their duty to always perform. But, it is wrong to put the responsibility of monitoring stray dogs outside the campus on the education staff.
Trouble happening on social media
After the order was issued, various types of comments are being made about teachers on social media, which the teacher community is calling derogatory and unfortunate. The organization says that such instructions harm the social reputation of teachers.
Teachers are already busy with non-academic work
Sachin Tripathi said that teachers have been doing socio-economic survey, BLO work, caste-Aadhaar certificate processes, census, MDM, election duty, literacy campaign and many other non-academic works without any opposition for years. But, work like identification and reporting of stray dogs is not in line with the basic role and dignity of the teacher.
The concerned department should solve the problem: Teachers Association
The organization clearly said that solving the problem of stray dogs is the primary responsibility of the local bodies and concerned departments. Engaging teachers in such work can adversely affect the quality of education. Chhattisgarh Pradesh Joint Teachers Association requested the government to reconsider this impractical order and immediately repeal it.
