The team of IIT Delhi Professor Javed Shaikh has created mosquito-repellent detergent. This is a detergent that will get rid of the liquids that repel mosquitoes. This mosquito repellent detergent has been used successfully. This will keep mosquitoes that spread malaria, dengue and chikungunya away from clothes.
New Delhi. Now laundry detergent will not only remove stains but will also drive away mosquitoes. Scientists at IIT Delhi have developed a unique mosquito-repellent detergent that will prevent mosquitoes that spread malaria, dengue and chikungunya from flying near clothes. This detergent will be available in both powder and liquid forms and can be used like normal detergent.
Made under the leadership of the head of the research team, Professor Javed Sheikh (Department of Textile and Fiber Engineering), special active compounds have been added to this detergent which penetrate deeply into the fibers of the clothes. These compounds block mosquitoes’ ability to smell and taste, due to which they are unable to recognize clothes and stay away. The biggest feature is that this quality does not get lost even after repeated washing; In fact, it gets reactivated with every wash.
Now you will get relief from mosquitoes
In lab testing, volunteers wore clothes washed with this detergent and put their hands in a closed box filled with mosquitoes. The result was shocking; Dozens of mosquitoes sat on normal clothes, whereas mosquitoes sat on the clothes washed with this detergent to no avail. It has been found to be completely safe and effective even in commercial laboratories.
Now mosquitoes will not bite if you wash clothes with this surf.
Will be launched in the market soon
Pro. Javed Sheikh said, ‘We have made such a detergent which can be easily used in everyday life. There will be less need for insecticide spray or cream, this will be very beneficial especially for children and the elderly. The team has also filed a patent application for this technology and talks are going on with big detergent brands so that it can be launched in the market soon.

Experts believe that if this detergent is available at cheap prices, it will have a huge impact on mosquito-borne diseases in rural areas. Every year lakhs of people in India fall prey to dengue and malaria. This invention of IIT Delhi will not only keep clothes clean, but will also become a powerful weapon to protect an entire generation from diseases caused by mosquitoes. Scientists hope that it will come in the market in the next few months and will revolutionize the lives of common people.
