In just one day off, you can visit this new tourist place with your children. This is very important not only for tourism but also for strengthening the knowledge of children. This tourist place is Delhi Metro Museum which was opened on Wednesday at the Supreme Court Metro station of Delhi Metro.
Will open to general public from Friday
After the inauguration, this museum will be opened for the general public from 19 December 2025 (Friday). The timings of the museum have been fixed from 10 am to 4 pm. This museum will be open from Tuesday to Sunday, while it will be closed on Mondays and public holidays. Its nominal entry fee has been kept at Rs 10 per person.
You will not have to walk from the metro station
It is spread over an area of approximately 12,000 square feet. This museum has been developed in the first phase on the lines of the world’s prestigious metro museums. Being located at the Supreme Court Metro station on the Blue Line of the Delhi Metro network, the museum is easily accessible to visitors. Due to its proximity to major places like Bharat Mandapam and Supreme Court, it can be easily reached by road. If you are going by metro then you will not have to get down from the metro and even walk on foot.
What’s in the museum?
The museum features simulators to provide a realistic experience of metro train operations, working models of tunnel boring machines and launching girders, as well as interactive digital displays for visitors to play games and explain the metro construction process. Additionally, the quiz show screen, selfie point and souvenir shop further strengthen the interactive environment of the museum. While permanent models and exhibitions showcase various technical and operational aspects of the metro system.
The museum also displays a dedicated panel based on Metroman Dr. E. Sreedharan, a mock metro tunnel and a model of the Operations Control Center (OCC). Dioramas depicting important sites of Delhi, photo galleries based on the visits of dignitaries and panels related to major achievements in the history of the Metro are present here, giving a holistic picture of the evolution of Delhi Metro. In total, more than 50 panels, exhibits, kiosks and models have been installed in the museum. Its second phase will also be built in the future, in which additional exhibitions and innovations will be included.
Patel Chowk Museum closed
The concept of Delhi Metro Museum started in the year 2008. On 31 December 2008, the country’s first metro rail museum was inaugurated at Patel Chowk metro station, which at that time was the only museum of its kind in the entire South Asian region. However, now the Metro Museum located at Patel Chowk has been closed. Every year 5,000 students used to come here for excursion.
