Prem Kumar, who has won elections from Gaya Town nine times in a row, is an experienced face of Bihar politics. 69-year-old Prem Kumar is not only an experienced MLA, but he has also handled many important departments as a minister. Agriculture, animal husbandry, tourism, cooperation, disaster management, environment and health engineering…he has played an active and effective role in almost every major department. After the 2015 elections, he was also the Leader of Opposition in the Assembly, which further strengthened his administrative and political hold.

BJP’s Dr. Prem Kumar won the Gaya Town seat in the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections by a margin of 26,423 votes. He defeated his main rival Akhori Onkar Nath of Congress. Prem Kumar got a total of 90,878 votes. Akhauri Onkar Nath (Congress) stood second. The difference of 26,423 votes shows that this victory was very big and decisive. This victory is another successful election for Prem Kumar, making him among the leaders who have represented this seat for the longest time.
