Chandigarh: On the conclusion of ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ (Bharat Jodo Yatra), Punjab’s Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu can attend the mega rally to be held at Sher-e-Kashmir Stadium in Srinagar. Sources say that the party high command believes that Sidhu will be released from jail ahead of time on January 26. Due to which party’s General Secretary (Organization) KC Venugopal has invited his wife Dr. Navjot Kaur Sidhu.
Dr. Navjot Kaur Sidhu, wife of Navjot Singh Sidhu, had attended the evening leg of Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ from Kharal Kalan in Jalandhar district on Monday. His son Karan Sidhu was also accompanying Dr. Sidhu in his journey. It is noteworthy that Navjot Singh Sidhu has a good equation with Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. This was the first such major program of the Congress in Punjab, in which Sidhu’s party leaders felt the absence. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, while answering questions on Sidhu in Hoshiarpur during the yatra, had said that everyone will be given some or the other responsibility.

Sidhu is in jail
Navjot Singh Sidhu is currently lodged in Patiala Central Jail. He is serving a one-year jail term in a 1988 road rage case. Navjot Singh Sidhu, who surrendered before the Patiala court in May last year and was later jailed. He may be released prematurely as the jail authorities have sent his case for pardon on the occasion of Republic Day.
Significantly, Congress is facing a political crisis in Punjab. Six former ministers, including one of its former CMs, have joined the BJP. Recently former Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal has also joined BJP. Before joining the BJP, Badal had met former Punjab Congress president Navjot Singh Sidhu in Patiala Central Jail.
