National Youth Day 2023: On the occasion of the birth anniversary of the great philosopher Swami Vivekananda, 12 January is celebrated as National Youth Day every year. Swami Vivekananda is still a source of inspiration for millions of youth of the country. Celebration of Swamiji’s birth anniversary as National Youth Day started from the year 1985. The government had taken this decision in 1984. Swami Vivekananda’s speeches, his teachings, quotes have always been a source of inspiration for the youth.

1. Arise awake and do not stop until the goal is achieved.
2. Every work has to pass through three stages – ridicule, protest and acceptance.
3. Don’t be afraid of anything. You will do amazing work. It is fearlessness that brings ultimate bliss in a moment. Whatever makes you weak physically, intellectually and spiritually, discard it like poison.
4. What is education ? Is that book-learning? Is it one type of knowledge or the other? No, not this either. The restraint by which the flow and development of the will is brought under control and it becomes fruitful is called education.
5. Do not forget that bad thoughts and bad actions lead you to downfall. Similarly good deeds and good thoughts like millions of angels are ready to protect you till eternity.
6. People may praise or condemn you, whether the target is kind to you or not. Whether you die today or in the future, you should never stray from the path of justice.
7. What you think, you will become. If you think yourself weak, you will be weak. If you think yourself strong, you will be strong.
8. While living, learning till then. Experience is the best teacher in the world.
9. Have an idea. Make that idea your life, think about it, dream of it, live that idea. Let your brain, muscles, nerves, every part of your body be immersed in that thought and put all other thoughts aside. That is the way to succeed.
10. Concentration is necessary for studying, meditation is necessary for concentration. Only through meditation we can attain concentration by keeping restraint on the senses.
