A white colored mysterious bird has become the center of people’s faith in Bemetara district of Chhattisgarh. Villagers are worshiping this bird, considering it to be Garuda, seen at the farm house of Saldha Khamhariya village. A large number of people are arriving for darshan, while the identity of the bird still remains unknown.
Durg/Bemetra. These days a unique confluence of faith, curiosity and mystery is being seen in Bemetara district of Chhattisgarh. A huge white bird seen on a farm house in village Saldha Khamhariya of Berla development block has created a stir in the entire area. The villagers are associating this bird with the mythological Garuda and are worshiping it. Within no time this place became the center of devotees, where people from nearby villages also started arriving. Everyone is expressing their desire to see this bird and considering it as an auspicious sign.
This incident has not only shaken the faith of the villagers, but has also raised many questions before the administration and the forest department. Due to its white colour, unusual height and calm behaviour, this bird looks different from normal birds. This is the reason why the situation regarding its identity has not been clear yet. The presence of the mysterious bird has become a topic of discussion in the entire Bemetra district.
Farm house becomes center of faith
There is movement of people from morning till evening in the farm house of Saldha Khamhariya village where this bird was seen. The villagers consider it rare. Many people are bowing with folded hands after seeing this. The atmosphere of the farm house has become completely devotional.
White color and huge height increased curiosity
Villagers say that this bird is big in size and its color is completely white. Its beak, spread of wings and style of flight appear different from common birds. These characteristics are inspiring people to associate it with Garuda.
Worship and bhajan-kirtan
Many villagers came to see the bird with coconuts, flowers and incense sticks. Some people performed the puja duly. At some places, bhajan and kirtan also started. People believe that this bird has brought auspicious sign to the village. Local people say that in the Puranas, Garuda has been described as the vehicle of Vishnu. White color is associated with purity. For this reason this bird has become a symbol of faith. The villagers are also appealing not to harm it.
Mystery remains, no identity
Till now it is not clear to which species this bird belongs. Its official identity has not been revealed yet by the Forest Department. The situation is also not clear regarding where the bird came from and for how long it will stay here. Local resident Leela Ram Sahu said that he had never seen such a bird before in his life. He says that people from far-flung villages are coming to see it and worship it considering it to be a divine bird.
Forest department also alert, help from bird experts
Forest Department officials are keeping an eye on the entire matter. The department says that monitoring is being done to ensure that the bird does not suffer any harm. If needed, help from bird experts can be taken.
