Muzaffarpur News: According to Municipal Corporation officials, special attention has been paid not only to the water system at Dhobi Ghat but also to the scientific disposal of dirty water. The used water after washing clothes will be stored under a special system instead of being discharged directly into the drains.
On behalf of Muzaffarpur Municipal Corporation, preparations are being made on a large scale for the smooth functioning of the Dhobi Ghat on Marine Drive in Sikanderpur. After the completion of this project, not only will the local washermen get modern facilities, but this system will also become an example in the direction of environmental protection. It is believed that this initiative will be the first modern washing system in Bihar.
To ensure uninterrupted supply of water at Dhobhi Ghat, a new boring of 2 HP capacity has been installed, the depth of which is more than 300 feet. The water released from this boring will directly reach a big tank with a capacity of 10,000 litres. Water will be supplied to the entire Dhobi Ghat from this tank. Under this modern water system, about 70 people will be able to wash clothes simultaneously. Due to which the long standing water problem will be solved.
50,000 liter storage tank built

The used water after washing clothes will be stored under a special system instead of being discharged directly into the drains. For this, a storage tank of 50,000 liter capacity has been made. In which all the waste water will be stored. The water from this storage tank will be further sent to the Water Treatment Plant (WTP) of 10,00,000 liter capacity. Here water will be purified in modern and scientific manner. The pure water obtained after treatment will be released into Sikandarpur Mana. Due to which the river or reservoir will be protected from pollution and environmental balance will also be maintained. It is clear from this entire process that the Municipal Corporation has prepared the plan keeping in mind both cleanliness and environment.
Dhobi Ghat will be built on the lines of Mumbai
Municipal Commissioner Vikram Virkar said that the Municipal Corporation team is working continuously to complete this project in a time bound manner. He said that work is going on rapidly towards making Dhobhi Ghat fully operational. The water supply system and water treatment process will be completed by the 14th. In the new year, the process of settling the washermen here with better facilities will also be started. The Municipal Commissioner also said that with the opening of this modern washerman ghat, not only will the washermen get a respectable and safe workplace. Rather, the image of the city will also emerge as clean and well-organized. For a long time the Dhobi community was demanding a permanent and better system. Which is now being realised. Local people believe that with the opening of such a modern facility, the Marine Drive area will become more organized.
