NDRF teams sent
The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has deployed nine rescue teams in the state after heavy rains lashed some coastal areas of Maharashtra. Four of these teams have been sent to Mumbai. Mumbai, its neighboring districts of Thane and Palghar and other districts of the Konkan region have been receiving heavy rains for the past few days, causing flooding at many places and disrupting rail and road traffic services.
The water level in many rivers has risen and has crossed the danger mark at some places. An official statement issued by the NDRF said that four of its teams have been deployed in Mumbai, and one team each in Thane and Palghar districts. A team will reach Chiplun Nagar in Ratnagiri district in the afternoon.
