Manali. People in Himachal Pradesh are waiting for the sky to know when there will be rain and snowfall and farmers, gardeners and tourism sector will get relief. While farmers are waiting for rain, gardeners and tourism businessmen are waiting for snowfall.
In fact, in Himachal Pradesh, in the first week of October, there was rain in the entire state and snowfall was seen in the upper areas and there was a wave of happiness due to snowfall already in the winter season. But now there are drought like conditions.
There was snowfall in the high peaks of Manali as well as in Lahaul valley and tourists from outside states also reached here to see the snowfall. But since then the weather has remained clear in the valley and gradually the tourism business has also slowed down. Tourism businessmen are now hopeful that there will be snowfall before Christmas and New Year. So that people associated with hotels, tourist guides, river rafting and paragliding can also get employment.
There is 50% occupancy in hotels in Manali on weekends, but on other days the occupancy is seen ranging from 30% to 40%. Offers are also being given to tourists by hoteliers. Despite that, there has not been any significant increase in the number of tourists here. Tourists are also being given 30% to 40% discount in the hotels of Tourism Corporation. Tourists are coming here only on weekends and hotels are lying vacant during the rest of the days. According to the tourism businessman, if there is snowfall in the mountains. So due to this, tourists from outside states will move to Kullu Manali. But due to drought, there is no boom in tourism business at present.
The snow that fell in the month of October has now disappeared.
Silence spread around Beas river
Roop Singh, Vice President of River Rafting Association Babli, says that at present all the river rafting points are lying vacant. Because tourists are not going to Kullu Manali. If we talk about district Kullu, the livelihood of 5000 families is linked to river rafting and the same number of youth are also linked to the business of paragliding. Absence of snowfall in the mountains is also a main reason. If there is snowfall in the mountains then tourists will move to Kullu Manali. Due to which the rest of the tourism business will also benefit. River rafting operator Kamlesh Thakur said that only a few tourists are coming here. Due to which river rafting operators are also facing losses these days. Due to cold, the water in Beas river has also reduced considerably these days. Now it is expected that business will pick up on the occasion of Christmas and New Year.
When snow fell in October, the crowd gathered
Tourism businessman Heera Thakur says that when there was snowfall in the month of October, a large number of tourists came to Kullu Manali. But the month of November is also about to end and there is neither rain nor snowfall from the sky. If snowfall occurs on time, the tourism businessmen of Kullu district will definitely benefit from it.
