Pilibhit News: The situation in Pilibhit has deteriorated so much that the entry point of the city has turned into a mountain of garbage. Using the pretext of flood, the municipal bodies have dumped tons of garbage on the banks of Deoha and the main road leading to Haridwar. The MRF center has been stalled for months, due to which garbage, smell and filth flying on the road have become a threat to people’s health.
Pilibhit. Pilibhit district of UP is known for its clean climate, but the municipal bodies here are working together to make it as poisonous as Ghazipur in Delhi. The very people who are responsible for keeping the city clean have made a road in Pilibhit so polluted that it has become difficult for the pedestrians to pass through it. At the same time, this is not a common road, but connects Pilibhit with major cities of Uttarakhand like Nainital and Haridwar.
Most of the area of Pilibhit district of Uttar Pradesh is forest and agricultural area. In such a situation, the environment here remains much cleaner than the surrounding cities. When the AQI of entire North India becomes deadly, people move here. But the municipality and town panchayats here have made the entry point of Pilibhit poisonous.
Garbage flying in the air is dangerous for people
If you head towards Amaria-Jehanabad Road from JMB Tiraha, this road which connects Pilibhit to Haridwar has now turned into a long garbage route. This road is not only the main route for religious pilgrims but also for students, workers and villagers. Thousands of two-wheeler riders and pedestrians pass through here every day and the garbage and foul smell flying in the air is a threat to their health.
The round of allegations and counter-allegations continues
When Local 18 recently contacted Pilibhit Municipal Executive Officer Sanjeev Kumar regarding this serious issue, he had said that garbage has been dumped there due to floods. Having said this, an attempt was made to put the responsibility of this undeclared dumping yard on other municipal bodies.
Waste becomes dangerous for aquatic animals
More than 3 months have passed since the rainy and flood season, but the situation remains the same. In fact, the MRF center (garbage treatment plant) built at a cost of crores in the city is stalled, hence tons of the city’s garbage is dumped in the undeclared dumping yard on the banks of the Devha river. This action of the municipal bodies is not only making it difficult to pass through the road but is also becoming fatal for the tributary river of Ganga and the aquatic creatures living in it.
