Said- more than 1.54 lakh health centers were converted into AB-HWCs more than the target

New Delhi. Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said on Thursday that more than 1.54 lakh sub-health centers and primary health centers in the country have been converted into Ayushman Bharat-Health Centers. More than 1.54 lakh sub-health centers and primary health centers have been converted into AB-HWCs, surpassing the target of 1.50 lakh Ayushman Bharat-Health and Wellness Centers (AB-HWCs) by December 31 last year, he said. ‘ Chairing the eighth meeting of the ‘Mission Steering Group’ (MSG) of the National Health Mission (NHM) here, Mandaviya said that more than 135 crore people have attended the HWCs since 2018, according to a Health Ministry statement.
He said, ‘For the first time, health is being linked to the agenda of development under the overall approach of the central government. The pandemic period has provided an opportunity to strengthen our health care infrastructure. MSG is the apex decision making body of NHM. This organization takes decisions on policies and program implementation of the mission. Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, Union Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Dr. Virender Kumar, Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Dr. Bharti Praveen Pawar and Member (Health) of NITI Aayog ) Dr. VK Paul was also present.
Affordable, accessible and quality health services to everyone
The AB-HWCs are providing comprehensive primary healthcare services close to the communities in line with the vision of the National Health Policy 2017 (NHP 2017). Twelve health service packages are available free of charge. According to the statement, Mandaviya said that India can have its own health model according to its regional needs, adapted to local strengths and challenges. He said that moving forward with the philosophy of Antyodaya, the government wants to provide affordable, accessible and quality health services to every person in every corner of the country.
