Union Minister Anurag Thakur said that the areas of Leh, Kargil, Ladakh will come under the Central University. This university will also act as a model for other educational institutions there. With this decision, the local youth will get an opportunity to get higher education. This will help in the overall development of Ladakh. At present there is no such establishment in the Union Territory of Ladakh.

He said that this corporation will act as the main agency in relation to infrastructure construction in Ladakh and will cooperate in the construction of infrastructure. Thakur said that it would help in industry, tourism, marketing of local products, handicrafts in the area. According to the official statement, the authorized share capital of the corporation will be Rs 25 crore and recurring expenditure will be around Rs 2.42 crore per annum. This will be a new establishment.

It said that it has also been approved to create one post of Managing Director for this corporation. It has been said in the statement that this will achieve the goal of self-reliant India through employment generation, inclusive and coordinated development in the Ladakh region.
Minister Anurag Thakur said that setting up of a Central University in Ladakh will help in removing the imbalance that has persisted in the higher education sector for a long time. This university will make it easier for the youth of Ladakh and nearby areas to get higher education. It is to be known that Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his address given on the occasion of Independence Day on 15 August 2020 had announced the creation of a Central University in Ladakh.
