Kanpur. If you are also accustomed to chatting, typing and using social media with your mobile in hand for hours, then this news is to caution you. In the last one year, the number of patients coming to the Neuroscience Department of LLR (Halat), the largest government hospital of Kanpur, complaining of pain in hands, has increased rapidly. Investigation has revealed that the biggest reason for the problems of these patients is excessive use of mobile phones. According to doctors, most of the patients coming to the hospital told that they type on mobile all day long. Some use social media and some keep watching videos till late night. Due to continuous holding of mobile phone, there was swelling around the bones present inside the palms of the hands. Due to this, there was pressure on the median nerve passing through the palm and patients started feeling severe pain from the thumb to the entire hand.
carpal tunnel syndrome
After examination in the Neuro Science Department, carpal tunnel syndrome was confirmed in the patients. This disease occurs when there is pressure on the vein present in the palm of the hand for a long time. Due to this, the blood supply in the veins also gets affected. The result is that tingling, numbness and weakness start appearing in the hands. Doctors say that earlier this disease was seen in older people, but now the youth are also falling prey to it. Head of Neuro Science Department, Dr. Manish Singh said that in the last six months, studies have been done on more than 300 patients. Most of these patients were those who use mobile phones for a long time. In many cases, medicines did not provide relief, after which microscopy and endoscopy surgery had to be done. Dr. Singh told that the condition of some patients had become so bad that numbness in the hands had started increasing and even doing daily tasks had become difficult.
break on time
Dr. Manish Singh has said that using mobile is not wrong, but excessive use of it is harmful. Take breaks in between while using mobile. Straighten your hands and do stretching. If you feel even slight pain, keep your mobile aside. If mobile habits are not controlled today, then tomorrow hand problem can become a major disease. Therefore, be alert from now on. Small carelessness can cause long term pain.
