At the spot, armed bike-riding criminals first shot dead 75-year-old Ashrafi Rai. After which, in retaliation, the villagers caught the two criminals who were running away from the spot and beat them to death. Three deaths together have shocked the entire area.

As soon as the information was received after the incident, City SP Patna East Parichay Kumar, Sadar DSP 2 Ranjan Kumar and police teams from several nearby police stations reached the spot. It is said that Ashrafi Rai was sitting near the door of his house. Then two armed youths riding a bike arrived and shot him about two to three times. Seriously injured Ashrafi Rai was immediately taken to PMCH, where doctors declared him dead.
