The Forest Department claims that this rare plant named “Somavalli” had completely become extinct from the earth hundreds of years ago. Now this plant has been found in the dense forests of Kyoti Falls in Rewa district. This is being considered a historical discovery. The Forest Department has safely planted this plant in its nursery and now intensive research is being done on it.

In ancient texts and Vedas, Somvalli is not mentioned as an ordinary plant, but as a rejuvenating medicine. It is believed that in ancient times, gods and goddesses and sages used to consume the juice of Somvalli to attain longevity, strength and energy. It is said that this kept the body in shape and delayed old age.

According to Dr. Deepak Kulshrestha, Dean of Rewa Ayurveda Hospital, this plant was found in the dense forest of Keoti Falls, which is already a center of attraction for tourists. He told that even though there is less mention of it in modern books, its usefulness is described in detail in the Vedas and ancient texts.

The structure of Somvalli is also very unique. This plant does not have leaves. It is found in the form of green vine-like stalks. For this reason it was not easy to identify. At present it has been kept very safe under the supervision of Forest Department and Ayurveda experts. The forest where this plant was found is also being given special protection.

Experts believe that Somvalli can make more effective medicines not alone but in combination with other rare medicinal plants. Now preparations are being made for scientific research on it, so that the world can be introduced to all its secrets.
