After ED, CBI raids on orders of Jharkhand High Court
There are allegations of giving bribe to suppress the case related to illegal mining
New Delhi. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday raided the locations of businessman Amit Agarwal in Kolkata and Ranchi. Amit Agarwal is alleged to have bribed others to hush up a case related to illegal mining of about Rs 1000 crore in Jharkhand. Along with this, after the action taken on him by the Enforcement Directorate (ED), there is an allegation of hatching a conspiracy to implicate the people associated with the law and the officers of the investigating agency in a legal quandary. Sources told that during the CBI raids in Ranchi and Kolkata, many important documents and evidence have been found. The CBI had registered an FIR after the court’s order.
Officials said the CBI’s action came on the directions of the Jharkhand High Court, which had asked the agency to conduct a preliminary inquiry. The matter pertains to a writ petition filed by Shiv Shankar Sharma through advocate Rajeev Kumar before the Jharkhand High Court at Ranchi, alleging that Agarwal was laundering chief minister Hemant Soren’s black money through shell companies. .
