Banana cultivation is done on a large scale in Sultanpur, UP, where many farmers have left traditional crops and are engaged in banana cultivation only and are earning good income from it. In this news, we will know about five such farmers of Sultanpur, who have made banana farming their main business and have achieved special expertise in it.
Farmer Karunashankar Mishra, resident of development block Baldirai, told Local 18 that he left the traditional crops paddy and wheat and started banana farming, in which he started getting good profits at low cost. Now he is cultivating bananas in most of his fields. According to Karunashankar, he planted 1700 saplings in about 5 bighas of land, the total cost of which till its completion came to Rs 1 lakh and he sold bananas worth Rs 5 lakh. Due to this, they are getting a lot of benefit in banana farming.
Farmer Krishna Kumar Singh, resident of a village under Baldirai tehsil of Sultanpur district, told Local 18 that he has left the traditional crops paddy and wheat and started banana cultivation, in which he started getting good profits at low cost. Now he is cultivating bananas in most of his fields. He told that he planted 1100 saplings in 1 acre of land, the total cost till which was ready was Rs 1 lakh and he sold bananas worth Rs 3 lakh. Due to this, they are getting good profits in banana farming.
Farmer Anupam Yadav, resident of Sultanpur, told Local 18 that he had ordered banana saplings from the Horticulture Department, which he is earning good profits by planting in his fields. He has planted more than 5000 trees, which are being prepared in an area of more than 2.5 acres.

Farmer Daljit Verma, resident of Haripur Banwa of Sultanpur, has planted more than 670 banana plants, from which he is earning huge income. Along with this, he has also set up a vegetable nursery under the banana plants, due to which he is getting the benefit of two crops simultaneously. In case of farming they use technical agricultural methods. This is the reason that along with banana cultivation, they also cultivate cabbage, chilli, gourd, nanua etc. and supply vegetable plants in the market by setting up nurseries.
