Some ingredients are required to make Methi Paratha. Like fresh finely chopped fenugreek, wheat flour, curd, finely chopped green chillies, a little grated ginger, red chilli powder, turmeric, coriander powder, celery, salt as per taste and oil or ghee for baking.
First of all, take wheat flour in a big vessel and add curd to it and mix well. Adding curd reduces the bitterness of fenugreek and makes the parathas soft. Now add chopped fenugreek, green chilli, ginger, celery, turmeric, red chilli powder, coriander powder and salt. Then knead soft dough by gradually adding water.
After kneading the dough, keep it covered for 10 minutes. Due to this, fenugreek and spices get set well in the flour and the taste of parathas increases even more.
Now make small balls of the dough and roll them lightly. Heat the pan and apply ghee or oil on both the sides and fry the parathas till they turn golden. The taste of methi parathas mixed with ghee is very special in winter.
Serve hot methi parathas with curd, pickle or white butter. Fenugreek is considered a winter superfood, which is rich in fiber, iron, calcium, vitamin C and antioxidants. It also helps in keeping the internal heat of the body balanced.
