New Delhi. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Sunday said traditions, languages, music, craftsmanship and other forms of intangible heritage are in many ways the ‘most democratic expressions of culture’, which are the common property of all and preserved by many.
During his address at the inaugural ceremony of an important UNESCO meeting on the preservation of Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) at the Red Fort complex here, Jaishankar told the representatives of various countries that it is necessary to nurture the heritage and pass it on to future generations in the ‘common pursuit’ of peace and prosperity.
The 20th session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Protection of Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) will be held at the Red Fort from December 8 to 13. This is the first time that India is hosting a UNESCO panel session.
