Kedarnath The disaster of 2013 had changed the lives of many families forever. One of these families was Shivam’s house in Roorkee, where people had accepted for years that Shivam was no more in this world. But the story did not end there. After twelve years there came a turning point which surprised everyone.
How did Shivam disappear?
During the days of the disaster, many people went missing due to stampede, heavy rain and debris. Shivam was also one of them. The family searched everywhere, but when no information was found for weeks, they were forced to assume him dead. The family members mourned and performed his symbolic last rites. For the family, this pain was as if someone had suddenly snatched away a loved one.
New clue of life came from Maharashtra
The Indian Express report states that Shivam started living in a temple in Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra in 2021. Here his life was going smoothly, but one day a theft took place in the temple and on the request of some people, the police added Shivam’s name to this case.
Shivam was presented in the court. The judge noticed that he was not able to talk properly, as if he could not remember anything. Seeing his condition, the court ordered to send him to Pune’s Regional Mental Hospital i.e. RMH.
After examination, doctors told that Shivam is suffering from mental illness disorganized schizophrenia. That is, the memory was confused, the conversation was fragmented and the thinking was scattered.
A small clue became the key to Shivam’s identity.
During treatment at RMH, when the doctors and staff were trying to understand his identity, a small thing came to light – the name of a school in Roorkee. Hearing this, the administration immediately contacted Uttarakhand officials.
On the other hand, the court had made it clear that Shivam had nothing to do with the theft case. Now things started coming together one by one. Gradually it became confirmed that this was the same Shivam, who was assumed dead after the Kedarnath disaster.
Returning to the doorstep after 12 years
The most emotional moment of this film-like story came on 5 November. Shivam finally met his brother. Twelve years later, there was the return of a person whose photo the family members had now considered to be only in their memories.
Now 55 years old, Shivam has been taken back to Roorkee by his family. For them, getting this is no less than a big miracle.
