Malviya Bridge News: This restriction will remain in effect from 20th December to 13th January. Malviya Bridge built on Ganga in Kashi is about 138 years old. Above it is the road route and below it is the rail line going to Bengal via Bihar. During this period, operations on the railway line will continue as usual. ADCP Traffic said that only pedestrians and two-wheelers will be able to pass through Malviya Bridge from December 20.
Varanasi. The work of repairing the drainage spout expansion joint on the historic Malviya Bridge built on the Ganga will continue for the next 25 days. Due to this, people traveling from Varanasi to Chandauli may face problems. Traffic of all vehicles including autos, e-rickshaws, four-wheelers has been banned on this bridge. These vehicles will be able to go from Mughalsarai to Chandauli via Ramnagar via Shastri Bridge built on the ghat in front. This restriction will remain in effect from 20th December to 13th January.
ADCP Traffic Anshuman Mishra said that only pedestrians and two-wheelers will be able to pass through Malviya Bridge from December 20. Movement of all other big vehicles has been banned for 25 days. However, a relaxation of 1 hour has been given for school buses in the morning and afternoon.
Heavy vehicles will get entry from here
School buses will be able to come from this Malviya bridge between 9 am to 10 am in the morning from Namo Ghat to the halt and between 1.30 pm to 2.30 pm in the afternoon towards Namo Ghat. ADCP told in a phone conversation that all the vehicles will be able to come to the city through the alternative route Ramnagar via National Highway for the next 25 days. For the next 25 days, apart from buses, goods vehicles will enter the city from Ramnagar via Tengra turn on the National Highway through Amra Akhari Bye Pass. Barriers will also be installed at Lautubir underpass, so that the patient does not face any problem in coming to BHU and Trauma Center.
British-era Dufferin
The Malviya Bridge built across the Ganga in Varanasi is 138 years old, on the upper part of which there is a road route and at the bottom there is a rail line going to Bengal via Bihar. However, during this repairing work, operations on the railway line will continue as normal. This bridge is also known as Rajghat bridge. During the British rule it was called Dufferin Bridge but after independence it was named Malviya Bridge. This bridge built on Ganga is one of the oldest bridges in the country.
