Homemade Rice Papad Recipe: Everyone enjoys eating papad. Be it lunch or dinner, the taste of papad increases even more with dal and rice. The papads available in the market are definitely delicious, but the taste of papad made at home is different. Homemade papads are not only clean and refreshing, but you can adjust the spices and flavor as per your liking. Papads made from rice are especially light and crunchy. It gives a different pleasure to eat with pulses, vegetables and salad in cold weather. Apart from this, by making papad at home you know that there are no adulteration in it and it is completely natural. Material
-Rice – 2 cups
-Cumin – 1 teaspoon
-Celery – 1 teaspoon
-Salt – as per taste
-Baking soda – a pinch
-Red chilli powder – ½ teaspoon
-Water – 10 cups
-Green chilli paste – 2 tbsp
-Green coriander – 2 teaspoons
Method of preparation
1. Soaking Rice
First of all, wash the rice thoroughly in water and soak it for 5 to 6 hours. This will soften the rice and make it easier to make papad batter.
2. Adding spices to water
Put water in a cooker and heat it. Add salt, cumin, red chili powder, celery and baking soda in it. Mix the spices well in water.
3. Cooking rice
When water starts boiling, add soaked rice. Close the lid of the cooker and cook the rice for at least 5 to 6 whistles.
4. Mixing spices
Mix the cooked rice well with a spoon. Now add green chilli paste and green coriander and mix. Then let it cook without the lid for at least 10 minutes.
5. Preparing the Batter
Take out the cooked rice mixture after it cools down. Spread a plastic sheet and apply some oil. Pour the batter with the help of a spoon or ladle. Place another plastic sheet on top and press it with a heavy plate to make thin round papads.
6. Drying papad
Prepare all the papads in the same manner. Let it dry for a day under the fan. Next day turn the papad and dry it in the sun. When completely dry, store it in a steel box.
