Water Chestnut Chaat Recipe: In winter, one feels like eating something which is warm, light and full of taste. In such weather, many people keep trying different types of chaat, snacks and light dishes. But have you ever eaten water chestnut chaat? If not, you are still far from true taste. Generally people eat water chestnuts raw or use them as a snack, but very few people know how delicious the chaat made from water chestnuts is. People often avoid eating water chestnut because of its cold nature, especially in the cold season. But when chaat is made by boiling water chestnuts, its effect becomes mild and it can be eaten comfortably. Boiled water chestnut not only keeps the stomach light but also gives energy to the body. This is the reason why water chestnut chaat can become a great snack in winter.
The most special thing about this chaat is that it is not difficult to make. Some basic spices, a little butter, fresh green chutney and water chestnuts are all it takes. This chaat is ready in minutes and tastes such that you will feel like making it again and again. Easy recipe of water chestnut chaat
Step 1 – Cooking water chestnuts
-First of all, take 400 grams to half a kilo of water chestnuts. Now pour a cup of water in the cooker, add some salt and put the water chestnuts directly in it without peeling them. Cook on high flame till one whistle. Water chestnuts become soft in about seven minutes.
-Let the pressure of the cooker reduce on its own. When the water chestnuts cool down, peel them and cut them into two parts and keep them in a plate. This step is very important, because only boiled water chestnut gives the right texture to the chaat.
Second step – preparation of spices
-Now put spices on these boiled water chestnuts. Add black salt, red chilli powder, chaat masala and some black pepper powder to it and mix it well. After this step the base of water chestnut chaat is ready.
-To make this chaat even more delicious, prepare a fresh green chutney. Make a smooth chutney by adding green coriander, green chilli, tomato, cumin and a little garlic in the mixer. With this chutney the taste of water chestnut chaat increases manifold.
Step 3 – Butter Flavor Twist
-If you want a little more richness, heat a pan and add a spoon of butter.
Now put boiled water chestnuts in butter and stir on high flame for two minutes. The spices are already mixed in it, so it gives a light toasted flavor to the water chestnuts.
-This makes the chaat look more crispy and makes it fun to eat.
If you do not want to spend much time, then raw water chestnuts can also be cooked directly in butter. Water chestnut itself is very soft, so even after covering and cooking for ten minutes, it becomes soft easily.
Serve the prepared water chestnut chaat with green chutney and if you wish, add a little lemon juice on top. Chaat made in this way tastes hot, light and very tasty.
