High protein chocolate not only fulfills your sweet cravings, but it also provides energy and nutrition to the body. Chocolates available in the market often contain a lot of sugar, preservatives and unhealthy fats, but home-made high protein chocolate is not only tasty but also healthy. To make it, just a few easy and nutritious ingredients are needed, like cocoa powder, peanut butter, protein powder, oats or dry fruits. The beauty of homemade chocolate is that you can add flavors and sweeteners of your choice to it, making it a perfect snack for both children and adults.
To make chocolate, first take 2–3 tablespoons cocoa powder in a clean bowl. Keep in mind that cocoa powder should be 100% pure, so that both taste and nutrition are excellent. After this add 2 tablespoons peanut butter or almond butter in it. It not only makes the chocolate creamier, but also adds healthy fats and proteins to it. Now add 1 scoop protein powder into it. You can use vanilla, chocolate or caramel, whatever flavor you like. If you want a vegan option, you can also take plant-based protein.
Now comes the turn of sweetener. You can use honey, maple syrup or date paste instead of sugar in homemade high protein chocolate. This enhances the taste of chocolate and makes it a healthy treat. About 1–2 tablespoons of sweetener is enough. Now put all these ingredients in a non-stick pan on low flame and mix well to prepare a smooth and thick mixture. If you want, you can also add a little coconut oil to it, which gives a perfect glossy finish when the chocolate sets.
When the mixture is ready, turn off the gas and let it cool down a little. When the mixture becomes lukewarm, add oats, chia seeds, chopped almonds, cashews or walnuts. This adds both crunch and fiber to the chocolate. Now put this mixture in any chocolate mold, tray or plate. Spread it evenly and garnish it with some dry fruits or dark chocolate chips.
Keep the tray in the refrigerator for at least 1–2 hours, so that the chocolate sets properly. When it freezes, cut it into small pieces and store it in an airtight jar. This chocolate can easily be kept in the refrigerator for 7-10 days. You can give it as an energy snack before workout, a healthy treat to satisfy evening hunger or even in children’s lunchbox.
