Arhar Dal Tadka Recipe –
First of all, wash a big bowl of arhar dal thoroughly and soak it for 15-20 minutes. Now add salt, half teaspoon turmeric and one teaspoon desi ghee to the dal and cook it in the cooker for 2 whistles. On the other hand, cut the onion into slices and finely chop the tomato.
Now heat a pan and add two spoons of desi ghee in it. As soon as the ghee is hot, add cumin, dried red chilli, chopped ginger and green chilli. When the aroma of spices starts coming out, add chopped onion and fry till it becomes light golden. Now add tomatoes and cook well. After this add turmeric, red chilli, coriander powder and some salt. Add water and cook till the spices melt.
When this onion-tomato masala becomes uniform, then add boiled lentils to it and let it cook on low flame for 5-7 minutes. Sprinkle half spoon garam masala on top. This enhances the taste of dal even more.
Now let’s make the second tadka. Heat one spoon ghee in a small pan. Add asafoetida, cumin, red chilli powder and green chilli in it. Pour this tadka on boiling dal. As soon as the tadka falls into the dal, the aroma will spread throughout the house. Finally add green coriander and serve hot. Serve this dhaba-style dal tadka with rice, roti or jeera rice.
