It will also be kept an eye that no retailer should take advantage of the shortage to charge more than the people.

Makar Sankranti has been given great importance in astrology and religious beliefs. It is said that on this day the doors of heaven open and the day of the gods begins. It is a belief that there is one year of earth and one day of Devlok. When the Sun is Uttarayan then the day begins, and when the Sun is Dakshinayan then it is night. That’s why on the day of Makar Sankranti, when the Sun is Uttarayan, the deities are worshiped on the earth and they are wished for happiness and prosperity.
That’s why the names may be different, but the festival of Makar Sankranti is celebrated with enthusiasm and devotion in the country. Makar Sankranti in North India, Lohri in Haryana-Punjab, Khichdi Sankranti in Garhwal, Uttarayan in Gujarat, Pongal in Tamil Nadu. Whereas in Karnataka, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh it is called only Sankranti. Whereas, in Assam this festival is celebrated by the name of Bihu.
