Tourists reached Mainpat for the first time
Vikas Kasi, a youth from Madhya Pradesh, told Local 18 that he has come to Mainpat, Chhattisgarh for the first time. Had a picnic with friends, roamed around and visited major tourist places like Fish Point and Tiger Point. While warming the bonfire to get relief from the cold, he said that the weather of Mainpat is wonderful and he would advise others to visit here.
The cold here gives a different feeling
Asa, who came from Dantewada of Bastar, told that she lives in Ambikapur and had reached Mainpat for a walk. He liked Mainpat very much, although the cold here is much more than Ambikapur. He told that the weather was pleasant when he reached in the morning, but by night the cold increased significantly. Compared to Bastar, Mainpat feels colder and this place really feels like Shimla.
Another reason to enjoy Mainpat in winters
Rahul Sonkar, who came to visit Mainpat from Ambikapur, said that he comes to Mainpat often, but there is a different pleasure in coming here in winter. He said that at present the lowest temperature in Chhattisgarh is being recorded in Mainpat. Reaching around 10 in the morning, they had a picnic, had food and drinks and enjoyed the cold by sitting near the bonfire. According to him, the cold and atmosphere of Mainpat is very relaxing.
Record broken for the first time by 3 degrees
Local resident Vijay Yadav told Local 18 that the temperature is continuously falling in Mainpat. There is more dew and cold in the morning, whereas after 9 o’clock the temperature gradually becomes normal. He told that in the last three days the temperature has been recorded up to 3 degrees Celsius. People are resorting to bonfires to protect themselves from the cold and the number of tourists is also continuously increasing.
Frost and frozen snow are increasing the chill.
Local resident Dev Kumar said that the cold has increased considerably in the last two-three days. Cold is felt most in the morning and evening. People are taking help of jackets, warm clothes and bonfires. He told that frost falls in the morning and snow is seen near the drains, which further increases the cold. However, after 10-11 pm the weather becomes normal to some extent.
