Magh Mela: Preparations for the Magh Mela to be held on the sands of Sangam have gained momentum. Regarding Magh Mela 2025-26, the work of leveling the land has almost been completed. The work of building pontoon bridge, laying checkered plates, laying drinking water lines and installing poles for electricity supply is being done at a rapid pace. Prayagraj Fair Authority has now also announced the date for allotment of land to saints and institutions.
According to Dayanand Prasad, Additional Fair Officer posted at Prayagraj Fair Authority, the work of land allotment for Magh Mela will start from December 2. Prayagraj Fair Authority also has a program of Ganga puja at Sangam Nose on 2nd December. Therefore, along with the worship of Ganga, the work of allotment of land for setting up a tent city on the sands of Sangam will begin. Prayagraj Mela Authority will first allot land to the saints and institutions of Dandi Bada, Acharya Bada and Khak Chowk.
Land allotment work started
According to tradition, land is first allotted to Dandi Swami Nagar, Dandi Bada. According to the schedule of land allotment issued by the Additional Fair Officer, land will be allotted to Dandi Swami Nagar Dandi Bada on 02, 03 and 04 December. Whereas land will be allotted to Acharya Swami Nagar, Acharya Bada on 5th and 6th December. The land will be allotted to the saints of Khak Chowk on 07, 08 and 09 December. Apart from this, the dates for allotment of land and facilities to the pilgrim priests of Prayagwal, which is called the backbone of Magh and Kumbh Mela, will be announced later.
When will the facility slip be issued?
According to Additional Fair Officer Dayanand Prasad, for the facility slip, photo identity card and Aadhar card will have to be presented. He has said that in special circumstances the dates of land allotment may also change. The institutions which have not returned the facilities of tin, tents and furniture after availing it during last year’s Kumbh, Mahakumbh, Magh Mela or any other years. Those institutions will not be given any land or facilities this year. It will be mandatory for every allottee to maintain the camp for the entire duration of the fair till Maghi Purnima. The facility slip will be issued two days after land allotment.
Magh Mela will run till 15th February
It is noteworthy that this time the Magh Mela will run from the first bathing festival of Paush Purnima on January 3, 2026 till the bathing festival of Mahashivratri on February 15. It is estimated that 12 to 15 crore devotees will come to the Magh Mela which lasts for 44 days. On the instructions of CM Yogi, the Magh Mela being organized after Maha Kumbh will be presented on the lines of Mini Kumbh. The area of the fair has been increased to 800 hectares. This time Mila will settle in 7 sectors. Instead of six, 7 pontoon bridges are being built in the fair. Apart from this, there will be strong security arrangements in the fair. 17 police stations, 17 fire stations and 42 police posts will be built in the fair.

Apart from this, about 5000 policemen will also be deployed for the security of the fair. UP ATS, STF, LIU and other intelligence agencies will keep an eye on the fair. Along with this, the entire fair will be monitored through CCTV cameras equipped with AI. The help of AI equipped CCTV cameras and drones will be taken for crowd management. Proper arrangements are also being made for parking of vehicles of the devotees coming to the fair. Shuttle buses will also be run to ensure that the devotees coming to Mahakumbh do not face any problem.
