He said that this issue can be resolved on the basis of united power and capability of Hindus within the state itself. Bhagwat said that if there is a need to escalate the Thirupparankundram issue, it will be escalated. At present this matter is pending in the court, so let it be resolved peacefully there. His statement is being linked to the Madurai Deepam controversy, where there was tension in recent times regarding religious events.
RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat clearly indicated that the organization does not want to give much political color to this issue even if it wants to, because the matter is pending in the court. He said that till the judicial process is completed, everyone is appealed to remain patient. However, he also stressed that the best way to resolve disputes is to find solutions together at the local level. This does not increase unnecessary tension in the society and communication between communities remains better.
What is the controversy?
This statement of Bhagwat has come at a time when political rhetoric regarding religious issues is intense in Tamil Nadu. Recently differences had come to light regarding some rules and traditions related to Deepam festival in Thirupparankundram area. Local Hindu organizations had called it a tampering with traditions, while the administration said that steps were taken keeping in mind the law and order situation. In such an environment, the RSS chief’s message of solution through the united power of Hindus is being considered as a signal towards finding a solution through harmony and dialogue within the state.
Special appeal to workers
RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat also appealed to the workers not to look at any dispute emotionally but with restraint and prudence. He said that there should be faith in justice and where unity of society is necessary, all the communities should come together and find a way out. At present, the hearing on the Thirupparankundram dispute is going on in the court and all the parties are waiting for the decision of the judicial process. After Bhagwat’s statement, it is hoped that the matter will be resolved peacefully and within the legal framework.
