The Chief Minister said that the number of Kovid-19 patients in the state is increasing daily and due to this the demand for oxygen has also increased. He said, ‘Oxygen reserves are rapidly decreasing. In this situation we need the help of the center to maintain adequate oxygen reserves. I have requested the Prime Minister to provide 1000 metric tonnes of oxygen imported in the state. He has demanded from the Center to send 500 metric tonnes of oxygen from the existing import quota in the first installment. Vijayan said in a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi that the state should be allocated 50 lakh doses of Kovishield and 25 lakh doses of Kovaxine. With the death of 58 more patients in the state in the last 24 hours, the number of people who lost their lives in the epidemic has increased to 5,565. According to the government, there are 3,75,658 patients under treatment in the state at present and the rate of infection in the proportion of samples being tested is 25.69 percent.
According to the government, 6,558 people were confirmed to be the most infected in Ernakulam while 5,180 in Kozhikode, 4,116 in Malappuram, 3,731 in Thrissur, 3,727 in Thiruvananthapuram and 3,432 in Kottayam.
