In today’s digital age, phone calls are common, but along with this, spam calls are also increasing rapidly. These calls often harass us, ask for our personal information or try to cheat us by giving fake offers. If you are also troubled by frequent unwanted calls, then we will tell you how you can avoid spam calls and keep your phone safe. ‘Sir, want a personal loan?’ ‘Ma’am, are you looking at 3 BHK for family?’ Everyone usually receives this type of call. But now the good news is that all these nonsense calls can actually be stopped and that too with just one message or one app. Actually, TRAI has done such magic that now you can choose yourself which spam calls will come and which will not come.
TRAI’s Do Not Disturb (DND) system, which now runs under the National Customer Preference Registry (NCPR), is very effective, but it is not always possible to prevent 100% spam because some telemarketers break the rules. Let us know how to stop fake calls.
TRAI has divided promotional calls/SMS into 7 categories: Banking/Insurance/Financial products/Credit cards (Banking/Insurance), Real Estate (Real Estate), Education (Education), Health Care/Fitness (Health Care/Fitness), Consumer Goods \& Services (Consumer Goods / Services), Tourism \& Leisure (Tourism / Leisure), Entertainment (Entertainment).

Full DND (All promotional calls stopped): Send SMS ‘START 0’ to 1909. This will automatically block all spam calls containing the 140-series (e.g. 140xxxxxx). It works on all operators (Jio, Airtel, Vi, BSNL). Takes effect 7 days after activation.
Partial DND (selecting certain categories): Send SMS ‘START
Spam calls and complaints from personal 10-digit numbers – As per TRAI rules, commercial/promotional calls can be made only from 140-series or registered headers. It is prohibited to do so from a personal number (e.g. 9xxxxxxxx), and the connection may be disconnected on the first complaint, along with a 2 year blacklist.
Complaint Format: TRAI’s official format is – For calls: ‘The UCC,
For SMS: Forward Spam SMS to 1909. Complaint should be made within 7 days of DND being activated and within 3 days of receiving the call. You will get complaint ID, and action is taken in 3-7 days (mostly 5 working days).

Features: DND registration (full/partial), auto-report spam calls/SMS (report in one tap by saving caller number). Intelligent spam detection (SMS only), crowdsourcing data, and complaint status tracking. This is the fastest method as the SMS is auto-generated.
Note: The app asks for contacts access (only to detect unknown calls, no data is shared). Some users say in their reviews that it is not always 100% effective, but according to TRAI it is based on UCC Regulations 2018.
