Justice Surya Kant will take oath as CJI today

Justice Surya Kant will take oath as the 53rd Chief Justice of India on Monday. Justice Surya Kant’s tenure will be about 14 months. He will retire from the post of CJI on 9 February 2027.
The maritime power of the Indian Navy is going to become stronger today, as the indigenous naval warfare ship INS Mahe is being formally inducted into the fleet to protect the western maritime border. INS Mahe is also being called ‘Silent Hunter’, because it is highly capable of detecting and targeting submarines.

Indigenous naval warfare ship INS Mahe is going to be inducted into the Indian Navy today. It will be commissioned by Army Chief Upendra Dwivedi. This is the first time that a Navy warship is being commissioned by the Army Chief.
INS Mahe is being called the ‘Silent Hunter’ of the sea, because it is highly capable of detecting and targeting submarines. Its biggest feature is that more than 80% indigenous material has been used in its construction, which strengthens the resolve of self-reliant India in the defense sector. High speed, advanced sensors, modern weapons and precise strikes on enemy aquatic targets – INS Mahe will give a new edge to coastal security.

Delhi becomes gas chamber again, AQI at red mark in most of the monitoring stations
Air pollution in Delhi is once again seen at serious levels. The AQI at most of the monitoring stations in the city has been recorded in the red category, indicating extremely dangerous pollution levels. The poison dissolved in the air is making people’s breathing even heavier.
The pollution situation can be gauged from the fact that AQI remains in the very serious category at many major stations Ashok Vihar (433), Sonia Vihar (426), Jahangirpuri (451), Rohini (455), Vivek Vihar (451), Wazirpur (447) and Punjabi Bagh (421). These figures show that the pollutants in the air have increased many times more than the normal level.

Apart from this, the air quality at Aya Nagar (353), Lodhi Road (354), North Campus (404) and IGI Airport (345) remains between severe and very poor category. CPCB stations Shadipur (378), NSIT Dwarka (322) and ITO (411) also showed dangerous pollution levels throughout the day.

Senior Supreme Court judge Justice Surya Kant will take oath as the 53rd Chief Justice of India today. His name was announced as the next CJI on 30 October. Justice Surya Kant’s tenure will be for about 14 months and he will retire from the post on completing 65 years of age on 9 February 2027. Chief Justices of 7 countries of the world will be present as special guests in the swearing-in ceremony, which is also considered very important from the point of view of judicial diplomacy.
