Leaving the plumbing job, Kamadev of Deoghar tried his hand in papaya farming and changed his fortunes due to his hard work. But did not lose courage after the first crop got damaged due to rain. They are earning good profits every month due to bumper production.
Deoghar. Smart farming of Kamdev Das, resident of Shankari village of Deoghar district, is much talked about. Now he has also become an inspiration for other farmers. Due to his Jugdu technique and new thinking, people have started knowing farmer Kamdev Das as a progressive farmer.
Used to do plumbing work:
While talking to the correspondent of Local 18, farmer Kamdev Das said that there was a time when he used to do plumbing work by going from place to place in Deoghar itself. At that time, the monthly earning was Rs 5 to 10 thousand, due to which it became difficult to support the family. Then he thought of trying his hand in farming and got involved in farming from 2021. Today he is cultivating papaya on about 10 acres of land and now he is earning double the profit sitting at home.
There was a lot of damage due to rain in the first time:
Farmer Kamdev Das tells that when he started cultivating papaya for the first time, he planted a papaya plant on a similar flat land. The entire plant was destroyed due to untimely rains. Due to which a lot of damage was caused. But did not lose courage and then took ideas from many agricultural experts and made a high bed for planting papaya plants so that rain water does not accumulate near the plant. This method worked and after that we are continuously earning profits from papaya cultivation.
Did not get any help from the government:
The government brings many schemes for farmers. There can be many reasons why farmers are not able to take advantage of this scheme. Perhaps the officials sitting in the office are not able to convey correct information about this scheme to the farmers. Therefore, the farmers doing farming in Tapke are producing good crops without taking the benefit of any government scheme. Farmer Kamdev Das also believes the same. They have not been able to get the benefit of any government scheme in papaya crop production. They are producing papaya by farming with their own money.
More profit at less cost:
Farmer Kamdev Das says that there is more profit in papaya cultivation with less cost. One katha costs around Rs 5000. At the same time, the profit can be two to three times. Papaya starts bearing fruits within 7 to 8 months after planting and continues to bear fruits for about one and a half to 2 years. By plucking this papaya, you can easily sell it in the market and earn a good profit.
