Chamoli Latest News: Severe cold is continuously increasing in the high altitude areas of Chamoli district of Uttarakhand, due to which normal life is being badly affected. Especially in Niti Valley, the effect of cold wave is being seen very intense. The temperature here is continuously going towards minus, due to which natural water sources, rivers, drains and waterfalls have completely turned into ice. At many places, a layer of thick ice has accumulated on the surface of the water, while in high altitude areas the water sources have completely frozen.
It is becoming extremely cold in Uttarakhand these days. The severity of cold is continuously increasing even in the high altitude areas of Chamoli district. Cold has completely engulfed the Rishi Ganga river of Badrinath Dham. The flowing water stream has now turned into a sheet of ice.
Cold wave is at its peak in Niti Valley of Chamoli district. The temperature here has reached minus 6 degrees. Natural water sources, springs and small drains have completely frozen. The problem of water has started increasing in the villages and people are having to struggle a lot for their daily needs.
Snow has accumulated for several kilometers along the banks of Dhauli Ganga river. The layers of ice on top of the flowing water appear like natural artwork. The calm and steady form of the river reflects the increasing cold. For the first time, local people have seen the river freezing at this level.

Alaknanda river, which is generally known for its fast flow, also seems calm and completely frozen these days. A thick layer of ice has accumulated along the banks of the river. On the one hand, the frozen river looks very beautiful and attractive, while on the other hand it is also making one feel the increasing cold.
Due to the increasing cold, the gurgling waterfalls falling from the mountains have now completely frozen. At many places, waterfalls have turned into columns of ice; this beautiful sight is worth capturing on camera, but it has also become a matter of concern for the local people regarding the availability of water.
Nowadays the temperature in the area is being recorded between minus 4 to minus 6 degrees Celsius. The situation has become even more difficult due to dry cold. The cold wave is so severe in the morning and evening that people are avoiding coming out of their homes. Elderly people and children are facing a lot of problems due to increasing cold.
As attractive as the frozen rivers and ice-covered waterfalls due to the harsh cold are, they have been equally difficult for the local residents. Water pipelines have frozen due to cold, it has become difficult to walk on slippery roads and the increasing cold is affecting the daily lives of people.
Local people have been waiting for rain and snowfall for a long time. Dry cold has made the situation worse. Villagers believe that snowfall will bring some relief to the weather and the condition of water sources will also improve.
According to local resident Dinesh Bhatt, the Meteorological Department has expressed the possibility of change in the weather in the mountains after December 27. The department estimates that after this there may be some relief from the cold. At present, cold remains at its peak in the high altitude areas of Chamoli.
