RK Verma, Managing Director and Academic Head of Resonance, a leading coaching institute, said that his institute runs an extensive training program to hire fresh graduates of IITs and NITs. “We hire around 150 fresh graduates a year, mostly from IITs and some from NITs,” Verma told PTI. Verma said, ‘They don’t start teaching from day one, they are trained so that they match the standard of those who are already teaching. These fresh graduate trainees are trained in areas like mock sessions, system to ask expert teachers outside the classroom to clear doubts, personal guidance. He said that the trainees are initially given a salary of Rs.6-8 lakh per annum, but after completing the training, they are given a salary ranging from Rs.25 lakh to Rs.50 lakh per annum. This salary can go up to Rs 2 crore within a period of two-three years depending on the performance and other results, he said.
A spokesperson for Allen Career Institute said that most of the graduates they have hired as faculty are their alumni. “We hire fresh graduates as trainees and retain them after completion of training. Most of them are our alumni and they like this city. Once an industrial hub, Kota is now home to a Rs 6,000 crore coaching industry. More than two lakh students come to Kota every year to prepare for competitive exams like the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) for engineering and the National Eligibility and Entrance Test (NEET) for admission to medical colleges.
