Shimla. In Himachal Pradesh, now teachers will have to appear for examination to teach in government schools affiliated to CBSE board. Only teachers who pass the test will be appointed in these schools. It is noteworthy that the state government has decided to affiliate 100 government schools with the CBSE board and the process for this is going on.
According to the Education Department, so far 83 schools in the state have been affiliated to CBSE and the remaining schools will be affiliated by the end of this month. In these schools, teachers will be examined to maintain the quality and match the CBSE standards.
According to the information, CM Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu has decided that only teachers who pass the examination in these schools will be appointed. This examination will be conducted by Himachal Pradesh School Education Board and this examination can be conducted in the month of February. This decision will be discussed in the cabinet meeting and the final approval will also be given by the cabinet itself. A separate sub-cadre of teachers will also be created for schools joining CBSE. Principal, teacher and non-teaching staff will be appointed through test only.
Apart from academic excellence of teachers, contribution in co-curricular activities will also be made the basis of selection. After the examination, about 5 thousand teachers and non-teachers may be transferred. However, teachers will also be given the option to choose the existing cadre or sub cadre. If the examination is conducted then the biggest problem may be faced by the teachers who have held the position of influence for many years in urban areas. Urban areas are full of such teachers who have political as well as administrative access and always work at the station of their choice. If such teachers are not able to pass the examination then their transfer is certain.
