Government’s big decision in view of food poisoning incident in Kerala
Non-vegetarian mayo banned, license and registration mandatory for eateries
Thiruvananthapuram In view of the incidents of food poisoning in Kerala, the government has taken a big decision. License and registration is now mandatory for catering services in Kerala. State Health Minister Veena George said on Thursday that no eatery would be allowed to function without a license or registration. Along with this, some important guidelines have also been given by the state government for this.
This step has been taken by the state government to ensure cleanliness and hygiene in view of the recent incidents of food poisoning in the state. According to George, the order will be applicable to each eatery and a supervisor will be responsible for ensuring them. Apart from this, hotels will also have to ensure that the cleanliness-rating system is strictly followed.

Guidelines issued by the government
A PTI report states that a mobile app will be launched this month for consumers to upload photos and videos of food they buy at eateries. Here are the important guidelines for restaurants and catering services in Kerala:
1Establishments without license or registration will not be allowed to operate. Also, once the restaurant gets the license, it will be inspected at regular intervals.
2, If a license has been suspended, it shall be re-issued only after the Commissioner of Food Safety is satisfied that the deficiencies have been fully rectified.
3, Mayonnaise made from eggs is banned. In many places in Kerala, raw eggs are used to make mayonnaise. Which is often served with dishes like shawarma. This has now been banned.
4, Now only pasteurized eggs can be used to make creamy sauces. Otherwise, preference should be given to vegetarian mayonnaise.
5A sticker should be affixed on the food parcel indicating when it was prepared and the time within which it should be consumed. Along with this, health card was also made mandatory for all the employees of the eateries.
6, In events organized in auditoriums, only catering service licensed by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India will be allowed to serve food.
7, A mobile app will be launched this month for consumers to upload photos and videos of food they have bought at an eatery.
