During the cold season, many youths of Kashmir go to different parts of the country to sell it. Every year a youth from Kashmir arrives in Ambikapur with the famous “Kashmiri Almond Walnut”. Specialty of Kashmiri Walnut
Wasid, a resident of Kashmir, told Local 18 that walnut trees are commonly found in the courtyards and gardens of almost every house in Kashmir. These fruits are plucked in the months of September-October and then dried and prepared in different varieties. Local people call the entire produce obtained from a single tree as ‘one tree’.
Provides warmth in cold and beneficial for the brain
According to Washid, Kashmiri walnuts are considered very beneficial for health. These keep the body warm from inside during cold weather and provide relief from pain in bones and joints. It works as a natural memory booster for children. There is also a famous saying that the shape of a walnut is like the brain, hence it is considered very effective for the brain.
Cheap in Kashmir, price increases after coming out
Washid said that Kashmiri walnuts are available in local markets for around Rs 400-450 per kg. But considering the demand for pure domestic walnuts, they are sold for up to Rs 600 in other states. Due to taste, sweetness and quality, customers happily pay their price.
The tradition of planting walnuts has been going on for many years.
Wasid, who came from Kashmir, says that he has been coming to different cities to sell walnuts for many years. According to him, people buy real walnuts growing in Kashmiri homes very fondly. Especially during the cold season, their demand increases manifold.
